Wetlands International Cormorant Research Group

http://cormorants.freehostia.com/index.htm
The Wetlands International Cormorant Research Group was officially founded at the 3rd European Cormorant Conference held in Gdansk, Poland, in April 1993. Its main aim is to facilitate the exchange of information on both ecology and biology of the different species of cormorants worldwide and on possible conflicts between cormorants and human fisheries' interests. To achieve this goal, regular meetings and workshops are organised and, at least once a year, the Cormorant Research Group Bulletin will be published. Contributions of ornithologists as well as of fishery biologists and nature management officials to our activities are welcomed...

Animal Demography Unit

http://adu.org.za
Animal Demography Unit, Deparment of Zoology, University of Cape Town - From 1 January 2008, the Avian Demography Unit (or the ADU for short) will become the Animal Demography Unit (still the ADU). What prompted this? Ever since the ADU initiated the frog atlas project a decade ago in 1998, there have been issues with the name Avian Demography Unit – “Why is the Avian Demography Unit doing the frog atlas?” This inconsistency has recently been heightened by our involvement with projects on reptiles (Southern African Reptile Conservation Assessment, effectively the reptile atlas), and with butterflies (Southern African Butterfly Conservation Assessment, the butterfly atlas), and with five postgraduate students doing PhD and MSc projects on seals, one on rare mammals in Namibia and even one on dwarf chameleons...

Avibase

http://www.bsc-eoc.org/avibase/avibase.jsp
Avibase contains taxonomic and distribution information (including maps) for all 10,000 extant species and 22,000 subspecies of birds in the world, plus several extinct and ancient fossil species. The site also offers searching tools for internet sites and images, as well as links to other sites such as ITIS (Integrated Taxonomic Information Systems) and Birdlife threathened birds of the World website. This site is the result of nearly 12 years of work on a database that now contains close to a million records, including 300,000 occurence records and 180,000 synonyms in over a dozen languages. Bird checklists of the world, which offers bird checklists for over 500 countries and regions, has now also been integrated into Avibase, but continues to be available directly from my other web site Bird Links to the World... Invasive Species - Sparrow Squad

http://www.sparrowsquad.com
I would like to welcome those of you that have been avid defenders of our songbirds and thank you for visiting us. That being said, it is almost more important to show my appreciation to those that are new to this problem. Unfortunately, too many people go on about their daily business totally oblivious to the wildlife around them. Sure, they will stop to appreciate the birds from time to time, but these days most of the time that bird is the English Sparrow it seems.
